Skye Munros, May'14

Bruce and Ken were leading our two May trips on Skye's Cuillin Munros. Here's a few thoughts from Bruce and a few comments from some members of the groups, photos courtesy of James Glasspool.....

Our two weeks on Skye were fully attended and all peaks were climbed on the main ridge once again, despite some dampness at times, the advantages of keeping the group size small, especially with every day involving the use of the rope, at least in part. The In-Pinn was cloud free on our days this month, which added to the exposure to the drops below for all to see, some enjoying these more than others. The winds were generally very light on both weeks which helped with the success overall, and made for warmer days out in the mountains. There was still a large amount of snow under Am Bhastier, which actually made the trek up easier than on the loose scree as is more normal in May. We are looking forward to helping more avid Munroists to complete their main Cuillin Ridge Munros in September. Skye always surprises people at the terrain, lack of obvious routes and the stunning scenery set against the coastline. They are all big West Coast days out so stay fit and enjoy the summer !

Steven O'Mara : "Had a great week in Skye - the guys you use up there are 'Top Blokes'."

George Watson : "Just back from Skye, mission accomplished! both Bruce and Ken were fantastic."

Joanne Anderson : "Skye was good even in the rain and the days were well organised to suit the weather. When looking at the forecast I wondered if I picked the wrong week but yesterday didnt look like you would get much of a suntan. I want to go back and do some of the other ridges, perhaps with a bit more sun. I enjoyed the north Cuillins best, even in the rain. Bruce was a good guide and I trusted him on the mountain even when he put me over the edge first."

Marion Johnston : "Back safely after our trip to Skye last week. We had a great time and it is a memorable experience. Both Bruce and our guide Ken were excellent- professional and personable and they made our trip safe and enjoyable. I miss the mountains already. Outstanding views one day with grey summits for the rest! Hard to believe it's over now-we are already looking forward to our next escape."
