Knoydart and Arnisdale, Jun'11

Knoydart is a remote peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. Awkward to access, the area does however have some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. We'd got chatting with the Glenelg Inn and organised a 4 day trip into Knoydart while based in the Inn and using a boat to get over Loch Hourn from Arnisdale to Barisdale. Weather for our 4 days was picture perfect and we bagged Beinn Sgritheall above Arnisdale on day 1, Luinne Bheinn on day 2 and after a rest day, Ladhar Bheinn (or Larven) was ascended on day 4. Our boat trips into Barisdale made the days that bit special and we watched in amazement while porpoises swam alongside us. Quality cuisine in the Glenelg Inn was followed each day by a soak in bath to ease our legs ! Glenelg is just a short boat-trip over to Skye and Chris and Marion headed over for a wander up Blaven in superb conditions. Next trip is at the end of August. Some photos have been posted on the Flickr site and Chris will hopefully put a writeup of his trip on his Cairn in the Mist blog .
