Mullardoch & Affric, May'11

The peaks around Loch Mullardoch form a long chain of 12 Munros - ideal for 3 days hillwalking ! We'd organised a trip based around the 'Top' bagging requirements of a client and this sparked a lot of interest. A boat trip on day 1 from Mullardoch Dam took us along to the foot of An Socach which was ascended in glorious sunshine. Heading eastwards, 3 other windswept Munros were walked along while we took in the fabulous views to Applecross, Torridon, Skye and the Fannichs. Cloudier conditions on day 2 saw us joined by Adrian Davis for a jaunt up the 3 Munros above Altbeithe Hostel. Adrian has a wealth of wildlife and flora knowledge which he shared with us in his own humorous style. Our third and final day took us up a circuit on the highest mountains west of the Great Glen. Long ridges - narrow, broad, grassy and bouldery all above dark lochans with wildlife abound. Happy clients at the end of the trip, '4000s Challenge' next ! Some photos of the trip are on my Flickr site.
