Ben Nevis via Carn Mor Dearg Arete, Apr'11
Ben Nevis normally attracts a fair amount of hillwalkers. Add in a Bank Holiday weekend and fine weather and the number swells - I've never seen the 'tourist route' so busy ! We started off from the visitor centre and headed up the 'tourist route' to the 'halfway lochan' where we split into two groups. I took Stewart away from the crowds and up Carn Mor Dearg first, with some of the most amazing views onto the Ben's cliffs. We continued up Ben Nevis itself via the Carn Mor Dearg Arete - a narrow ridge linking the two mountains. Rejoining the crowds on the summit is always a bit of a shock, but it was great to see everyone in good spirits enjoying themselves while taking in the views and having the occasional snow-ball fight. Some photos have been posted on my Flickr page.
