Scotland's Far North, Mar'11

Constantly checking the weather forecasts occasionally pays off ! After aiming to Newtonmore to prepare for a 2 day navigation course, I drove up to Assynt. Upon arriving in the dark, it began raining, then cleared as morning broke. Canisp was the first of 3 planned walks, which is a fine hill with stunning views overlooking Suilven, Cul Mor and Stac Pollaidh. Glas-bheinn was next, a Corbett linked to Conival and Ben More Assynt, this time with a spectacular aspect onto Quinaig (see photo). And finally Ben Hee, a tad unexciting after the two earlier walks, but this hill was the only one with significant snow, albeit on the summit. Only 18 Corbetts left to do !
