Attempt at last munro (again)
Fine weather forecast for Wednesday. So a quick drive up to Skye with Jon on Tuesday night. Wednesday, saw the cloud cling onto the ridge, but we aimed out up Coire Lagan and up the An Stac screes onto the crest. The rock was just a bit greasy as we clambered along to Sgurr Mhic Choinnich. We managed to get within around 50metres of the summit and I could go no further. I just felt my feet not grip 100% on the wet rock, so decided to chicken out. Jon, an experienced rock and ice-climber, got to the summit (see photo). We returned to the top of the screes, trudged up Sgurr Dearg into thickening cloud. Already a queue had formed to climb up the In-Pinn, so we gave it a pass and instead carried on northwards up Sgurr na Banachdich, Sgurr a'Ghreadaidh to Sgurr a'Mhadaidh. No problems along this at all, even though the cloud just sulked on the black rock. So still 2 munros to go on the 14th round. Perhaps next week ? Photos on my
