The Haynes family and I went for a hillwalk above Loch Tay, hoping for a bit of wilderness and to reach Ben Lawers summit. The weather was forecast to hold until 3pm, tho Ben Lawers sulked in blowing mist. We stumbled on a Viviparous Lizard, ate blaeberries until our tongues blackened, discovered the history of the landscapes and talked to the sheep (well Emma did, as the rest of us weren't converse enough to be able to). Zak aged 12 and Emma being just 7, set our pace and we reached Beinn Ghlas, but still Ben Lawers hung in cloud. So Emma decided we weren't heading to Ben Lawers afterall, and the route around the north side of Beinn Ghlas was chosen instead. This gave us a quieter return and an opportunity to find some Butterwort around the streams. Photos on Flickr page here.
