Applecross Corbetts, 29 May'09

Staying overnight in Glenbrittle on Skye we awoke to a strong wind and the Cuillin carpeted in cloud. So instead of 5 munro peaks on the ridge, I headed to Applecross to run over the two Corbetts above Bealach na Ba. If you've never been up this road, then you must - it's narrow, twisting and climbs from sea-level to over 2,000 feet. Just like some of the cols in the Alps. I ran the circuit around Coire nan Arr anti-clockise from the bridge over Russel Water. Very runnable with stunning views - dark coires with hidden lochans, and panoramas over Torridon, Affric and of course Skye. I could see the cloud starting to lift from the Cuillin - the only place to have any cloud whatsoever.
