Devil's Burdens Relay, 24 January 09
One of the first main hill-race events of the year, the Devil's Burdens relay event saw 120 teams of 6 runners complete a 4 leg race over the Lomonds of Fife. Very competitive but a great social catch-up too. Carnethy, the hill-racing club I'm attached to, fielded 7 teams : 2 senior, one male vet 40, one male vet 50, 2 female and a mixed team. I was running with Adrian Davis (who runs WildOutdoors) on the long navigation leg. I was pushed to keep with him, but we ended up doing a credible time of just over an hour to climb 1850ft and cover 6.5miles in fog and frost. Our team finished first over 40 and 7th overall, and therefore came home with a case of wine and posh chocs. More photos of the event on Scottish Hill Runners Flickr page.
